Our History

September 18th, 1996 – Arthur Christian Fellowship became Arthur Pentecostal Assembly with Pastor Leonard Van Dyke as the interim minister. At the first meeting there were approximately 12 in the congregation. Soon progressed to 45 which was almost as many as the small church could handle. Central Pentecostal Church provided financial assistance and transferred several families to the Arthur congregation.

Mid 1997 – Pastor Leon becomes the “Official” Pastor.

June 11th, 1997 – A five member delegation meets with members of the Arthur Village Council for a variance concerning the new proposed building as well as parking considerations.

June 25th, 1997 – Demolition of old building takes place.

September 3rd, 1997 – Construction on new building commences. The new building will be 96 feet long and 44 feet wide and will include a full basement. The upstairs will hold 150 people in the sanctuary and the downstairs will include a fellowship hall, classrooms, kitchen, and bathrooms.

December 1997 – The congregation moves into the new church and holds its firs Christmas banquet in new facility.

February 1st, 1998 – Dedication of the new church. Rev. Jack Ozard and Rev. Don Rogers take part in the dedication service along with Rev. Leon Van Dyke. Many of the local Arthur clergy attend as well as Reeve Clive Williams. A special musical concert follows with the group “Crosswalk”.

March 26, 2000 – Pastor Leon Van Dyke’s last service as our pastor. Pastor Leon feels led of the Lord to move to Sudbury and pastor the New Life Pentecostal church.

April-December 2000 – Rev. Niles Thorne and Rev. Lynn Pinkston fill in as interim ministers. Their ministry is greatly appreciated by the congregation.

December 17th, 2000 – First Sunday with new pastor Rev. Lanny Harris.

September 2nd, 2001 – First Sunday with youth pastor James Trip (2001-2003).

November 17th, 2002 – We move from a Developing Assembly to a Self-Governing (Autonomous) Assembly.

February 16th, 2003 – We celebrate our 5th anniversary in this building.

September 25th, 2004 – Pastor Rob Kropf & Heidi started as youth pastors (2004-2006).

April 9th, 2007 – First Sunday with youth pastor Adam Whitson (2007-2008)

July 29th, 2007 – Pastor Lanny Harris’ last service as our pastor. Pastor Lanny feels led of the Lord to move to the United States to pursue studies in formal counseling.

November 18th, 2007 – First Sunday with current pastor Rev. Ron Pakulat

September 8th, 2012 – Last mortgage payment paid by Arthur Pentecostal Assembly.

October 25th, 2015 – First Sunday with current youth / assistant pastor Jon Eagleson.

April 22, 2018 – Pastor Ron Pakulat’s last service as our pastor.

June 2018 – Pastor Gaye Norrie serves as our interim pastor.
